2000 year of Egyptian women

Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak on Monday stressed that the year 2000 was considered the year of Egyptian, women due to the revolutionary accomplishments realized along that the year as regards women is march, especially the setting up of the National Council for Women.
"These achievements have been crowned by Egypt's hosting of the first Arab Women Summit in November," she added.
Mrs. Mubarak made the statements during an open dialogue she had held following an Iftar (breakfast) banquet at the Air Force premises in honor of the new and former People's Assembly female members.
The Summit has been considered a historic event on the Arab women arena, given the participation of most Arab states in the Summit, First Lady Mubarak added that the National Council for women kick-started establishing a politburo to offer support for women who have won the recent parliamentary elections.
She pinned hopes on increasing the number of female MPs in next parliamentary elections.
She underlined the importance of sustaining strenuous work in order to upgrade not only the Egyptian women but also the Arab women.
