Reconciliation ends confrontations in the Syrian city of al-Sweida

One of the chiefs ( social dignitary figure) of Sweida ( Southern district in Syria) has announced that a reconciliation will be made on Friday in the province to put an end for the confrontations which erupted in November between the citizens and the Nomadic Bedouins and resulted in killing 20 persons.

The same source said that the reconciliation event will be carried out in the presence of influential figures representing the two sides and under the supervision of the government and the " Baath party." He added that the Syrian authorities has offered a sum of 350,000 Syrian pounds ( US $ 7,000) for each family of a killed person as a contribution from its side to restore peace to the area.

The Syrian authorities also offered persons who were wounded, estimated at 40, sums estimated at 100,000 Syrian pounds ( US $ 2,000).

Earlier on November 5th, confrontations erupted between the people of al-Sweida and the Bedouins when the Bedouins grazed their sheep cattle in agricultural lands. These confrontations lasted for several days and resulted in 20 killing including 16 Druze ( of Sweida) and four Bedouins, according to the said Chief who added that most of the wounded are Druze.
