Morocco to host conference on US-Africa energy partnership

Morocco was chosen to host next fall the third ministerial conference on US-Africa partnership in energy.
The decision was made at the second conference held in Durban, South Africa, this Dece.13-14 and which was attended by Morocco's industry, trade, energy and mining minister, Mustapha Mansouri.
The Durban conference also looked into recommendations by the "women-energy" conference also held in Durban between December 11 and 12 to consolidate women capacity and participation in energy development.
The series of conferences is part of the Tucson initiative meant to develop cooperation between the USA and African countries in the fields of clean energies, mainly natural gas, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
In his address, the Moroccan minister surveyed progress achieved in Morocco since the initiative was launched, citing the cooperation convention on energy efficiency and renewable energies signed between Morocco and the US energy department. He added Marrakesh hosted last October a conference on "clean energies technologies, availability and financing opportunities."
