Holy See secretary confers with foreign and religious affairs ministers

Visiting Holy See secretary in charge of relations with states (foreign minister), Monsignor Jean-Luis Tauran, held separate meetings in Rabat Thursday with minister of Foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, and minister of habus and Islamic affairs, Abdelkebir Alaoui M'Daghri.
Mgr. Tauran told MAP talks with Benaissa centered on the Middle-East tragedy, the crippled peace process and common concern for the preservation of Jerusalem's holy sites. Matters of the Catholic church in Morocco were also covered, he said underscoring freedom of worship in the kingdom.
Talks with the minister of habus and Islamic affairs covered dialog between Islam and Christendom and opening of communication channels between the Holy-See and the department, says a release of the ministry.
