Memorandum on Lebanese- Egyptian gas pipeline

Egypt and Lebanon will sign by the end of the current week a memorandum of understanding over the project of installing the Egyptian natural gas pipelines from al-Arish city to Tripoli in North Lebanon through the waters of the Mediterranean and then from Syria, Turkey and Europe.

The memorandum which is being in preparation for a bilateral agreement on this project, will be signed during a visit to be held by the Egyptian minister of oil Sameh fahmi to Beirut by the end of this week.

In press statements the Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri stressed that this project proves that regional cooperation among the Arab and Islamic states can be attained apart from Israel especially as Israel has tried to convince all that it is the one which can maintain regional cooperation.
