German President Calls for Teaching Islam in German Language

Germany's Federal President, Johannes Rau, on Wednesday called for the consolidation of the teaching of Islam in the German language.
The teaching of Islam will help eradicate extremist trends among young foreigners, living in Germany, especially the Turks, President Rau said in Munich, where he was visiting a college attended by foreigners.
Islam has always been taught in Germany in Arabic or Turkish. Some 3.2 million Muslims, mainly Turks, live in this European country.
