Vanuatu to open diplomatic representation in Morocco

Foreign affairs and trade minister of Vanuatu, Rialuth Serge Vohor, announced in Rabat Wednesday his country's decision to open a diplomatic representation in Rabat as the platform to promote the republic in the Arab world, Europe and Africa.

The move was announced in a meeting in Rabat Wednesday with the speaker of the house of representatives Abdelouahed Radi, said a house release.

Vohor said Vanuatu always supported Moroccan territorial integrity adding that through stronger ties with the kingdom, Port Villa meant to strike new cooperation relations with Arab, African and Mediterranean countries.

Radi recalled how Morocco upheld respect for international legality, non-interference in countries' internal affairs and dialog to settle international conflicts saying the house of representatives was ready for legislative cooperation and opening of communication channels between legislative institutions.

Meantime, Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi met Thursday visiting foreign affairs and trade minister of Vanuatu, Rialuth Serge Vohor. Vohor who arrived Wednesday in Morocco said his country was eager to enhance ties with the kingdom and wanted to open a diplomatic representation in Rabat as a bridge to the Arab world, Africa and Europe.

Vanuatu which recognized the so-called Sahrawi Republic "sadr" in 1980 announced November 24, 2000 that it no longer recognized the entity.
