Albright confers with Butaflika
Algeria-USA, Politics, 12/14/2000

The US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has stated that Algeria wants after its mediation in the peace agreement signed on Tuesday between Eritrea and Ethiopia to improve its relations with the US and other states.

News reports on Wednesday quoted Albright as saying to the press following separate meetings with the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika whose country is presiding the Organization of the African Unity, who was in Algeria in conclusion of her tour on South Africa, Mauritius and Botswana and then Algeria that Butaflika wants to see different relations between the US and Algeria, noting that it will be useful for the US to review matters of attaining that.

The reports added that Albright also discussed during her presence in Algeria especially with the Algerian foreign minister Abdul Aziz Balkhadem the Arab and Islamic view points concerning the situation in the Middle East.
