The fact finding commission and Israel

Israel's foreign minister Shloumo Bin Ami on Monday morning met with two members of the International fact finding Commission in the West Bank and Gaza strip. They are the official in charge at the European Union Javier Solana and Norway's foreign minister.
The Israeli radio said that discussions dealt with preparations to start the works of the investigation committee in the Palestinian territories.
Solana told journalists following the meeting that an agreement was reached between the US President Bill Clinton and members of the committee on its own authorities.
On the other hand, Bin Ami briefed the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak with the results of his meeting with members of the fact finding commission.
Meantime, Norway's foreign minister and member of the international investigation committee on fact finding in the occupied Palestinian territories said that the committee will visit these occupied territories for three or four times and will submit reports about its delegates to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In a statement to the Israeli radio on Monday, the Norwegian foreign ministers added that the committee will end its works by next march of 2001 and it will then submit a report to the US President Bill Clinton, to the Israeli and Palestinian sides and then the committee will issue its final report after having the notes laid by the two sides.
He explained that this committee is neutral and its mission is embodied in fact finding and the reasons behind the eruption of the Intifada. He indicated that the next elections in israel will not affect the work progress of this committee.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak met with members of the international committee for fact finding.
Worthy mentioning the formation of this committee which is composed of five members chaired by former US senator George Mitchell was decided during the Sharm esh Sheikh meeting in the mid of October. It includes as members also the Turkish President Suleiman Demirel, Norway's foreign minister, the US senator Warren Rod-Man and the representative for the foreign policy at the European Union Javier Solana.
