Iraq agrees to extend the oil for food agreement

Iraq on Monday announced its consent to extend working in the oil for food agreement, signed with the UN for other six months.
News reports said that this consent came in a message addressed by the Iraqi foreign minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf to the UN Secretary general Kofi Anna.
However, the 8th phase of the humanitarian program which was started to be implemented in December 1996 expired in the fifth of the current month December.
Last Tuesday, the UN Security Council extended for more six months the program which avails Iraq sells its crude oil for buying basic humanitarian needs.
