Malaysia gives backing to Sudan

Sudan's minister of industry and investment Abdul Halim Israel al-Mutafi announced on Monday said that Malaysia will offer an aid of US $ 700 million in order to build a project of generating electricity from waters and a dam on the Nile river.

News reports said that the Sudanese minister, currently visiting Malaysia, noted that the Sudanese and Malaysian governments are making talks on details of the said project.

He described these talks which he said at the governmental level between the two countries, as very encouraging. He explained that the Sudanese President Muhammad Hassan al-Bashir and the Malaysian prime minister Mahateir Muhammad discussed the responded project which will generate which will generate 200 megawatt of electricity, on the sideline of the Doha Islamic conference which was held in Qatar.
