Morocco made concrete settlement proposals on Sahara, Benaissa
Morocco, Politics, 12/9/2000
Morocco made concrete proposals to come out of the deadlock in the implementation of the Sahara settlement plan, Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa said.
Part of the moves to advance the settlement plan, Morocco proposed a dialogue with the other party, within the respect of Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Benaissa said in a letter to the 6th ministerial meeting of the Caribbean States Association, held Dec. 7-8 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Morocco is attending the meeting to show its desire to consolidate cooperation ties of member countries of the association. Morocco and the Caribbean States Association signed in 1999 in Panama city a cooperation accord.
Morocco is observer member of the association since 1997.
Benaissa, lauded the sound ties binding Morocco with most of the members of the association, said Rabat follows with interest the achievements made by these countries in political, economic and social realms.
The minister also dwelt on the Palestinian issue, underlining that the conflict has taken a serious turn that risks to put in peril peace and security in the Middle-East as a whole.
