Oman: some 200 persons died of AIDS

Statistics issued in Muscat on Wednesday said that 300 persons have died of AIDS since 1984 in Oman, where some other 600 persons are also proved positive.
The director of the AIDS- fighting department at Oman's ministry of health Ali Ahmad Baimran said that 180 AIDS positive are women. He added that 300 persons of are affected with the Virus died since the appearance of this disease in Oman, 16 years ago.
Worthy mentioning, Oman includes 2.3 million inhabitants, some 33% of them are foreigners especially Asians.
Foreigners in the Arab Gulf states are subjected to medical tests especially to know if they are have AIDS, before they are given work permits.
Meantime and earlier this year, Oman was recognized by an international report as a country which has made great development in advancing the health of its citizens in a short period of time ranking Oman at the top of the world countries in this regard.
