Sheikh Zayed receives two telephone calls from al-Assad, al-Qaddafi

President of the United Arab Emirates UAE Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan on Wednesday received a telephone call from the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and from the Libyan Leader Muammar al-Qaddafi.
The UAE news agency said that al-Assad and al-Qaddafi expressed to Sheikh Zayed their congratulations over his return back safe to his country following the surgery he underwent in the US by the end of August.
The agency, on the other hand, added that Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Khaleifa Bin Zayed al-Nahyan held talks with the Saudi defense minister prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz who conveyed to him congratulations of the Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz.
The agency added that a tripartite meeting was held on Tuesday included the Jordanian King Abdullah, Sheikh Khaleifa and prince Sultan dealt with latest developments in the region.
The agency added that Sheikh Zayed received from the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami a written message. This message was handed over by Iran's ambassador in the UAE Hussein Sadiqi to the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
