Morocco passes fishery cooperation agreement with FAO
Morocco, Economics, 12/6/2000
Morocco and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed in Rabat Tuesday a cooperation agreement in the sector of fisheries.
The accord, part of technical cooperation between the two sides, means to promote fisheries in member countries and boost the activities of the "Info-Fish" regional information center for wider marketing of sea-products in Arab states.
The Center gathering Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria, Bahrain, The Sudan, Tunisia, Syria and Yemen is meant to develop marketing data and services, control quality, operate a data-bank and train marketing staff. It also monitors market fluctuations and investment opportunities in the fishery sector.
