Change in quality of Morocco - Germany relations, Youssoufi
Morocco-Germany, Politics, 12/6/2000
Moroccan prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, said his visit to Germany this Dec.3-5 has brought about a change in the quality of relations between Morocco and Germany.
Youssoufi, who is the first Moroccan prime minister to visit Germany in 30 years, told MAP bureau in Berlin he agreed with German Chancellor Gerhard Shroeder to re-activate bilateral relations and start a new strategy that will promote a larger German economic presence in Morocco.
He added the new strategy would encompass investments, trade, financial cooperation and the settlement of Moroccan debts.
In this vein, a newly set up joint economic commission will meet next March in Morocco. He also cited the meeting between Moroccan and German tour operators, followed by the signing of a $ 25.4 million-worth convention for the construction of a 4-star hotel in the southwestern Atlantic city of Agadir as another leap forward in bilateral relations.
