Syria and the Baath party reforms

Well-informed Syrian sources told the London based al-Hayat daily issued on Tuesday that the Baath party regional leadership has cancelled the principle of " appointing " of Party cadres and leaderships and that real elections will be held as from January 20,000 from the bottom to the top but without giving the right of the Baath party conferences to impeach confidence from intermediate leaderships.

The sources explained that this measures aims at revitalizing the political work in the country and promoting the role played by the ruling ( Baath ) party.

In an official decision, the Baath Party leadership urged the Baath party members and the leadership to avert the Baath party establishment getting involved in the authority's daily issues and routines and rather to continuously work on expanding the Party's base and to honor the views of any ( comrade ) at the Baath Party and to embark on dialogue and participation as a means to enrich the meetings of the Baath party.

The Baath party regional leadership also called for making a questionnaire to find out the opinion of the Baath party at the grass-roots level and their proposals to develop party work. The leadership also called that the Party group to elect members of the group doubled instead of appointing them as well as to give the right for the annual conference of the group to impeach confidence from the group or one of its member with the majority of two thirds of the attending Baathists.
