Palestine-Israel, Politics, 12/5/2000
Clashes continued on Monday between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupation forces. The Palestinian Awad al-Salmi ( 28 year old) was killed while trying to implant a bomb on the road to Natsareim settlement in Gaza strip.
A statement by the Hamas movement said that he was killed while preparing to launch an attack by implementing the bomb. Al-Salmi killed a palestinian soldier in the 1990 s and he spent four year in the prisons of the Palestinian Authority until he was released after the eruption of the Intifada.
The palestinian youths attacked with stones an Israeli patrol while passing near Kadim settlement in Jenin.
Meantime, the Israeli forces and the settlers continued their aggressions against the Palestinian citizens. The Israeli settlers committed a new crime, under the protection of the Israeli forces when they opened their machine- guns fire against Muslims while entering Jousan village mosque near Bethlehem on Sunday to perform al-Maghreb prayers, resulted in wounding some 30 Palestinians.
As a result confrontations were held by hands and rocks between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupation which interfered for the protection of the settlers and then imposed a military siege on the village. The Israeli soldiers prevented ambulances from reaching the site of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Israeli helicopters rocketed three Palestinian houses in Aieda camp near Bethlehem and bombarded several houses in Beit Jala. The bombardment resulted in human and material losses The Israeli bulldozers uprooted more fruitful trees in Khan Younis and demolished tens of dunnums in Gaza under the pretext of constructing roads and protecting the settlements. They also destroyed two Palestinian houses in al-Qarrar area near Khan Younis.
The armed settlers from " Ghoushe Kateive " settlement in Gaza blocked the road linking between Khan Younis and Kfar Daroum settlement and prevented the Palestinians from crossing it and called for units from the army to implement that.
At the Palestinian level, the united leadership of al-Aqsa Intifada on Monday called for escalating resistance against the Israeli forces aggressions against the unarmed Palestinians in the palestinian territories, on December 8 and 9 on the occasion of the 13th anniversary for the eruption of the first palestinian Intifada.
