Qatar-China, Politics, 12/5/2000

Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani will pay a visit to China carrying a message from the ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa Al-Thani to the Chinese President.

This visit comes after the meetings the Qatari minister held with the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and the representative of the UN Security Council permanent states and the ambassadors of the European Union in Doha.

The Qatari foreign minister also met with the Russian ambassador in Doha and stressed during the meeting the need of revitalizing the Russian role to settling issues in the region.

The Qatari minister is also expected to visit European states in the framework of Qatar's moves in its capacity as the president of the current presidency of the Islamic conference with the aim of mobilizing international efforts to backing the cause of Palestine.
