Eritrea, Ethiopia to sign peace treaty

The spokesman for the Eritrean Presidency said on Monday that Eritrea and Asmara will sign a peace treaty in Algeria on December 12 and therefore to end their border disputes which lasted for two years and claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people.
News reports quoted the spokesman as saying that Eritrea's President Asyas Afourki had received an official invitation during the week- end vacation from the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika to attend the signing ceremony on this treaty.
On the other hand, the UN secretary general of the UN Kofi Annan will visit both Eritrea and Ethiopia as from tomorrow to inspect the peace keeping forces deployed along the borders between the two countries.
