The establishment of the first Lebanese, international Bank in Syria

The following advertisement was issued today in the front page of the Syrian Arabic daily Tishreen on the establishment of the first Lebanese- International bank to be opened in Syria. It says that it pleases the Lebanese- European Banking Company ( SGLEB) to declare the opening of its branch at the free zone in Damascus. This event falls in the course of SGLEB's regional expansion strategy.
However, the SGLEB branch is the first foreign bank and from the private sector to open its doors in Syria. It will provide its services to individuals and establishments accredited at the free zones. A matter which would contribute to giving the trade movement a push forward in these areas and boosting the national economy.
SGLEB is composed of two groups: Societe Generale- France and al-Sahnawi group. The bank provides the following banking services
1. A commercial bank offers through its 42 branches an integrated group of products for individuals
2. Major companies bank and all affiliated services, especially financing projects ( Syndication) and Bank Investment operations
3. Monitoring private banking operations
4. Specialized financial services through companies affiliated to SGLEB like FIDUS pertaining to the markets, Bourse and Sogelease- Liban for finance rent operations and Sogecap-Liban for life insurance
5. Regional coverage through sister or affiliating companies for SGLEB in Jordan- The Middle east bank for Investment/ SOCIETE GENERALE GROUP and in Cyprus SG Cyprus.
