Relief flights to Sudan continue
Sudan, Local, 12/4/2000

The Humanitarian aid organization in Sudan has stressed the continued flow of air relief flights to all damaged areas in Southern Sudan.

The commissioner general for humanitarian aids Sulaf Eddine Saleh said in a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Akhar issued in Khartoum on Sunday that the Sudanese government has not so far received an official notification from the international organization to halt its flights to the south and that the relief operation are continuous according to the set schedule.

However, the BBC has stressed that the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan had released a decision in which he suspended all relief flights to Sudan, in protest of what he had called the Sudanese government's bombardment of certain cities and positions in the southern parts of the country.
