Libya starts to impose entry visas on Lebanese and Syrians
Libya-Lebanon, Politics, 12/2/2000

The London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily said today that the Libyan authorities have started since four days to impose an entry visa on those who carry Lebanese and Syrian passports who want to visit Libya.

Diplomatic sources in Tripoli said that the Libyan decision which was not officially announced, comes in the course of the practical measures taken by the Libyan authorities in response to the campaign carried out by several local leaderships of the Shiite community in Lebanon against the Libyan leader Mu'ammar al-Qaddafi.

Arab diplomats in Tripoli said that this decision reflects the state of strong regret al-Qaddafi feels as a result of the media campaign he was exposed to in Lebanon recently despite the fact he had released more than one positive initiative to contain the disputes with Lebanon's Shiite on the question of the disappearance of Imam Mousa al-Sader.
