Eritrea's military build up on the Sudanese borders
Sudan-Eritrea, Politics, 12/2/2000

Sudanese minister of Presidential affairs Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahim Muhammad Hassan has asserted continued Eritrea's military build up off the borders with Sudan. He added there are several suspended files between the two countries that are waiting to be settled.

Lt. Gen. Hussein said in a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Sahafi al-Dawli "we do appreciate to have strategic relations between Sudan and Eritrea. If Asmara wants to play a role in the Sudanese affairs it has to be neutral and not to carry out any aggressive act against Sudan." He underlined the importance of reestablishing confidence between the two countries before Eritrea plays any role in the mission of achieving reconciliation in Sudan.

Lt. Gen. Hussein called on Eritrea to show good will by eliminating all obstacles preventing the improvement of relations between the two countries.
