Popular rally in Fez calls for boycott of American products
Morocco-USA, Politics, 12/1/2000

Participants at a solidarity rally with the Palestinian people, held Thursday here by the Moroccan League for Human Rights Defense (LMDH), called for boycotting American products.

The move is a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian people, who struggle for the recognition of their legitimate and inalienable rights and for the establishment of an independent state, with Al-Quds Asharif as capital, Benjelloun Andaloussi, secretary of LMDH Fez section said at the rally.

He called Moroccans to extend financial assistance to the Palestinian Intifadah (uprising) via a special account opened at the Moroccan treasury.

Abu Tarek, representative of the Palestinian authority at the embassy of Palestine in Rabat, lauded Morocco's efforts in favor of the Palestinian cause.

Other speakers insisted on the importance to boycott US products and hailed Morocco's decision to close the Israeli liaison office in Rabat and the Moroccan one in Israel.
