Mubarak, Zayed discuss ME developments, bilateral relations
Egypt's President Mubarak returned home last night after a flight visit to the United Arab Emirates during which he inquired after the health of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, who underwent a kidney transplantation. The President wished Sheikh Zayed a speedy recovery.

The Sudanese foreign ministry has notified its mission at the UN security Council to submit an official complaint against the US because of the visit of the US under secretary of state Suzan Rice to the southern part of the country without the permission of the government. In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Sudanese dailies the Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael said that Sudan will not give entry visas for American officials, waiting for what the complaint against the US administration will result in.

The Israeli daily Maareve said in its Wednesday's issue that an envoy for the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak arrived in Cairo on Tuesday in a secret mission whose nature was not disclosed. In its report quoted by the Israeli radio on Wednesday, the paper added that intensive contacts are being made between Israel and the Palestinian Authority at various levels to reduce the level of acts of violence in the Palestinian territories and to resume negotiations between the two sides.
