Five Palestinians killed, tens wounded on Wednesday's clashes with the Israelis

Confrontation continued between the Palestinian youths and the Israeli occupation forces. Five Palestinians were killed on Wednesday by the Israeli bullets in Gaza and other tens were wounded.

Five Palestinians were wounded by the Israeli bullets at al-Mintar crossing while hundreds of Palestinians held demonstrations in Gaza calling for boycotting the American and Israeli Goods. Among the killed Palestinians known were teenager Muhammad al-Meshharawi who was fatally hit in his head.

Meantime, foreign women demonstrated in Gaza in protest of the Israeli bombardment and aggressions against the Palestinians. They raised banners calling on Israel to halt the aggression and to expel the Israeli settlers from the Palestinian territories. The demonstrations headed then to the headquarters of the UN activities coordinator in Gaza and the women handed him a message to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to ensure protection for the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army's tanks and heavy machine guns opened fire against the demonstrators near Qubet Raheel ( Raheel Dome) in Nablus who had attacked the Israeli forces by using rocks and bottles.

The Israeli forces also bombarded the Palestinians forces near the Israeli settlements of " Ghoushe Kteive and Mourag and several Palestinians were wounded.

An Israeli military spokesman said the Israeli army used missiles in striking the Palestinians who attacked the israeli centers by stones.

The Israeli units surrounding Ramullah and al-Khalil also machine-gunned targets in the two cities while the Israeli tanks once against bombarded Beit Jala and Rafah.

The Israeli bulldozers demolished the house of al-Masri family in al-Khudr village near Bethlehem and destroyed the farm surrounding it which includes fruitful trees under the pretext that roads will be constructed in the area.

An Israeli settler deliberately hit in his car four Palestinians near " Gangoun" settlement to the north of Jerusalem and they were admitted to hospital.

For his part the Israeli foreign minister Shloumo Bin Ami refused demands raised by the Palestinians to declare independence and the Palestinian state.

Also a statement released by the Israeli foreign ministry on Wednesday refused to deploy UN forces to protect the Palestinians and stressed that no body constructs the movement of the Israeli army.

To this effect, Israeli settlers broke into a hill near Nablus and declared it as a new settlement and the government of Ehud Barak vowed to provide urgent aids at a cost of US $ 5 million to settlements in the West Bank.

On the other hand, the spokesman for the US state department said that the US will continue its efforts for peace. He stressed that it is the interests of the Palestinians and Israel to establish durable peace.

But the US secretary of State Madeleine Albright ruled out the US President Bill Clinton to launch a new initiative with the end of his term of office.
