Turkey keens to play a role in the ME peace negotiations
Turkey-Regional, Politics, 11/29/2000
The Turkish daily al-Sabah issued on Monday said that Ankara wants to play Egypt's role as a mediator in the peace negotiations in the Middle East peace process after President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt gave up to play this role.
The paper added that Turkey does not want to play a role similar to that played by the US, rather wants to be a bridge between the Palestinians and Israel. The Turkish paper added that it told several European states about this desire.
