Jordan warns Israel against preventing water supplies

A high ranking Jordanian official on Tuesday warned Israel against the consequences of proceeding its threats to cut waters off Jordan, stressing that relations between Jordan and Israel have reached a very bad stage at recent time after the eruption of al- Aqsa uprising and the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the unarmed Palestinian people.
The Jordanian official, who asked not to be identified told the Saudi daily al-Watan on Tuesday that Israel's threats to cut the waters will lead to boycotting of relations between Jordan and Israel.
For his part the chairman of the Jordan valley authority Dureid al-Mahasenya stressed that waters constitute one of the most dangerous means used by Israel to pressure Jordan. He stressed Jordan's water rights in Israel constitutes certain shares that should be provided to Jordan.
He warned against Israel's continued pollution of the Jordan river, calling for the need of building Jordanian dams on this river so as to prevent Israel from polluting the waters of the river.
In a similar statement to the Paper, the Jordanian economist Ziad al-Basha indicated signs revealing that relations between Jordan and Israel are very bad and deteriorating. He stressed that trade relations with Israel are currently obstructed because of the current incidents in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Basha noted that the Jordanians stopped dealing with the Israeli currency in protest of the Israeli practices against the Palestinians.
