Egypt summons its ambassador from Tel Aviv

The Egyptian Middle East News Agency MENA announced today ( Tuesday) that Egypt decided to summon its ambassador from Tel Aviv in protest to the Israeli bombardment of the Palestinian positions in Gaza.

In a report on this issue, the Qatari TV al-Jazira said today that President Mubarak personally decided to summon the Egyptian ambassador in Tel Aviv Muhammad Basyouni and that the Egyptian foreign minister Amr Moussa asked Basyouni to return back to Cairo in a telephone call at President Mubarak's directives.

The TV added that President Mubarak also instructed the Egyptian mission at the UN to maintain a diplomatic move to halt the Israeli bombardment noting that this Egyptian measure is based on the agreements reached at the recent Arab summit by Egypt and the Arab states to take measures cope with those by the escalated practices by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians.
