Egypt against intellectual piracy

Regional manager of Commercial Software Producers Association, Mr. Simon Soil, affirmed that Egypt has achieved a big stride in software anti-piracy procedures and protection of intellectual property in comparison to other Middle East countries.
Speaking at the inauguration of the training workshop on the legal framework of software intellectual property Mr. Soil added that ME has tangibly progressed as regards legislations for protecting author's rights and intellectual property and confronting software piracy.
"Egyptian concerned authorities exert efforts to attract international software companies investments. Decreasing software piracy helps promoting national income and creating new job opportunities in information and communication community," elaborated Mr. Soil.
On his part, vice president and general manager of al Ahram Regional Institute, Mr. Ali Ghoneim, said that Egypt is one of the ME pioneering countries in confronting software piracy and protecting intellectual property with a view to encouraging this industry in Egypt.
He added that journalism and media men have a heavy responsibility for making people aware of the importance of facing software piracy that hinders the inflow of foreign investments.
Head of General Book Authority, Dr. Samir Sarhan stressed that the Ministry of Culture is playing a significant role in protecting author's rights whether in Egypt or in Arab markets. "The coming period will witness Egypt's entry to many international agreements for protecting intellectual property," he noted.
