The sources told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Thursday that the Eritrean officials stressed that they do not know about the attack and that they intend to continue their efforts to achieve peace in Sudan, according to steps already made between the two countries to this effect. Noting that other arrangements are underway to convene a higher level meeting between the Sudanese government and the coalition of the Sudanese opposition existed in Asmara.
However, in a press conference held recently, the Sudanese minister of culture and information Ghazi Salah Eddine who is also the official spokesman for the government denied accusing Eritrea of backing the said attack which started from the eastern areas bordering Eritrea.
