Forest revived thanks to irrigation project
Morocco, Environment, 11/16/2000
Chabab forest in Marrakesh will be revived thanks to an irrigation project, worth $ 636,000 (7 million DH).
The regional office for agricultural development has laid 8.5 meter-long pipes with a flow of 160 liters per second.
The operation means to safeguard and revive the 170 ha Chabab forest, considered as a patrimony closely linked to the history of the city.
The olive tree forest was planted in the 50's as part of a post-independence national mobilization kicked off by the late King Hassan II, then crown prince.
