Kuwait denies to have paid salaries for Palestinian government employees
Kuwait-Palestine, Economics, 11/15/2000
Kuwaiti minister of finance and communications Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah has strongly denied statements made by the Palestinian minister of international co-operation Nabil Shaath on that Kuwaiti sums will be paid as salaries for the employees of the Palestinian government.
Minister Ahmad al-Abdullah stressed in a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Watan issued in Kuwait on Tuesday that Kuwait will not pay the salaries of the Palestinians, nor any Fills, outside the framework of the Arab summit resolutions which was held in Cairo.
On Kuwait's participation in financing the two funds Sheikh Ahmad said that so far did nit agree with the mechanism through which a sum of US $ 150 million will be paid, noting that a meeting will be held within the few coming weeks to define this mechanism.
The minister called for not ratifying any licenses issued by the PA and to make sure from sides concerned before its publication in the Kuwaiti dailies. He called not to be misled by hostile media campaigns which would destabilize the situation inside Kuwait.
