Ivanov discusses with Aziz Iraq's relations with the UN Security Council
Iraq-Russia, Politics, 11/15/2000

The Iraqi dailies issued on Tuesday said that the talks held between the Iraqi prime minister Tareq Aziz and the Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov centered on the relations between Iraq and the UN Security Council.

The Iraqi papers added the two sides also discussed on Monday evening regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The papers indicated that Ivanov, the delegate of the Russian president Vladimir Putin, is carrying a message to the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein pertaining to bilateral relations and means of developing them in various fields.

Meantime, Ivanov called for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq. In an interview with the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat issued on Tuesday, Ivanov added the bombardment continued by the US and Britain against the Iraqi areas known as no fly zones is considered a violation to the UN charters and UN security council resolutions.
