OIC Resolutions, appropriate for current developments
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 11/14/2000

Egypt's Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said that the resolutions of the ninth OIC summit reflect the Islamic world's views and outlook on conditions inside Palestine.

"In statements before leaving Doha for Cairo, Moussa said the climate that prevailed at the conference was good, and resolutions passed after long discussions and were reached with a consensus," he said.

"The resolutions followed marathon deliberations behind a closed door session and this is just normal and natural at any conference," Moussa said in a question on whether there were differences among the summitteers.

On Iraq-Kuwait disparities, Moussa said there is a satisfactory decision issued by the summit on that score.

On Egypt-Iran relations in light of ongoing contacts and after meeting with Iranian President Mohammed khatami, Moussa said bilateral relations are on the rise.

"Also, there is cooperation, identity in views and coordination in issues of common interest," he added.

As regards his meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saudi Al-Faysal, Moussa said. That they had consulted over current events and coordinated stands in the service of the Arab causes.

Answering another query on Egypt-Lebanon ties following his meeting with Prime Minister Rafik Harari of Lebanon, Moussa said Egypt and Lebanon are always working closely in addressing issues of common interest.

Also, Moussa made it clear that the Arab States would participate in the Marseilles Europe-Mediterranean meeting, to start Wednesday.

"The Arabs would not boycott the meeting," he said.
