Morocco-Gabon, Economics, 11/14/2000
Morocco and Gabon signed in Rabat Monday three conventions on the promotion of small and medium enterprise (SME) and consolidation of bilateral trade ties.
The Moroccan Exports Promotion Center (CMPE) and Gabonese counterpart "PROMOGABON" passed an agreement to exchange data, explore markets, carry out joint promotion campaigns, trade experts and hold training sessions.
The second convention sets up partnership between PROMOGABON and the Industrial Development Office (ODI), under which the Moroccan body provides assistance in assessment of sectors and identification of private investment opportunities.
The other document, signed by ODI and the assistance and guarantee to SME fund "FAGA-Gabon," provides for the setting up of an integrated system to finance Gabonese small loans and enterprises.
Gabon's SME minister Biyoghe Mba praised the Moroccan experiment in SME promotion, saying Libreville was keen to enhance trade ties with Morocco and benefit from its know-how in the field.
