Separate meetings with delegations representing Iraq, Kuwait
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 11/14/2000

An Arab diplomatic source in Doha said on Monday that separate discussions with each of the Iraqi and Kuwaiti delegations are being held in an attempt to reach a settlement between the two sides on the text that should be approved by the leaders of the OIC organization in conclusion of their meetings.

The source added that Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates UAE are taking part in these discussions and that the foreign ministers of several Arab states on Sunday held a meeting which lasted for five hours at the house of the Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani to this effect.

The source continued that the foreign ministers have prepared during the meeting a text that can replace the draft decision debated previously relating to the consequences of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the need of Iraq's implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions concerned. The source added that this meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.

On the other hand an Iraqi source said the Kuwaiti side is persistent to obtain a written apology from Iraq over its invasion of Kuwait.
