Young Sahrawis denounce ordeal in Tindouf camps
Morocco, Politics, 11/13/2000
A group of young Sahrawis who fled recently from the Tindouf sequestration camps have denounced the dire living conditions in these camps and the ordeal of the sequestered populations that put at stake their own life to escape the Tindouf camps.
The young Sahrawis told reporters in the southern Atlantic city of Agadir that all the persons sequestered in Tindouf want to escape the camps by whatever means and at any cost and dream of reunion with their relatives in the homeland, Morocco.
They added that the camps populations were subject to all kinds of repression and debasing practices and that only those who are close to the Polisario leadership get privileges such as water, foodstuffs and drugs. Learning and education are beyond the reach of the camps populations, the young Sahrawis deplored, adding that the populations are prey to mental disorders and other diseases that spread in view malnutrition and lack of medicine.
The mercenaries' infernal machine spares neither women and children nor elderly persons, the young Sahrawis said, calling the international community to make initiatives to save the camps victims.
They also described the disarray of the Polisario leaders who realized that their separatist plot has failed and that the Sahrawi youth are convinced that separatism does not guarantee their future and that hope lies in return to their homeland, united around a young sovereign, symbol of hope for all Moroccans.
