King Mohammed chairs 2000 handi-sports events
Morocco, Culture, 11/13/2000
Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired in Rabat Saturday at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex the closing ceremony of this year's Handi-Sports championships, held Nov.2-10 as part of the nationwide solidarity and fight against poverty week.
The sovereign handed trophies to winning teams and stopped for a photo opportunity with disabled athletes who participated in the competitions.
The king also greeted the Moroccan runner Abdelkader Moaaziz, who won the New York Marathon early this month.
After youth and sports minister Ahmed Moussaoui offered the sovereign a plaque celebrating the Third Edition of the Disabled Sports "Handi-Sports" and a medal of Moroccan participation in the Sydney Olympic games, participants were invited to a tea-party.
