Turkey softens OIC statement on Israel
Turkey-Israel, Politics, 11/13/2000
The Turkish daily "Radical" said in its Sunday's issue that the Third World countries were about to form a front against Israel and enlisting the phrase of " severing relations with Israel" in its final statement during the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, currently held in Doha, adding " but Turkey interfered and eliminated the sharp words " and as a result the difficult stage was surpassed and each country was given the choice to severe relations with Israel, separately.
The Turkish paper added that Turkey has participated for the first time, directly in the Middle East talks, and this resulted in issuing a decision by the OIC backing Yasser Arafat.
