Egypt seeks to make Islamic summit success
Egypt-Qatar, Politics, 11/11/2000

Egypt's Foreign Minister Amr Moussa announced that Egypt seek for the success of the Islamic summit in supporting the Palestinian cause but we hope that it would be a subjective success rather than a phoney one.

Moussa added that the Islamic Summit, slated for next Sunday, was quested to issue resolutions that possitively addresses the issues of Jerusalem, Intifada and Palestine.

On the other hand, Moussa has termed Qatar's decision to close down the Israeli trade representation office in Doha as a good step and a sound decision.

"The decision came in response to the wish of members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to give their coming summit the chance of success and effective action," Moussa said in statements on Thursday evening, voicing hope the Islamic summit would pursue the path of cooperation and reconciliation.

Qatar had decided earlier on Thursday to close down the Israeli trade office to ensure the success of the November 12 Islamic Summit, after a number of Islamic states including Saudi Arabia and Iran, had earlier decide not to participate if Qatar kept the Israeli trade office open.
