Qatar's decision to close the Israeli trade office is provisional
Qatar-Regional, Politics, 11/11/2000

Well-informed Qatari sources said in a statement to the Saudi daily al-Watan that Doha, in principle had responded to the calls made by the Arab states and therefore it closed the Israeli representation office in Qatar ( a temporary closure).

A balanced position which takes into account the desire of the " Arab brothers " and preserves Qatar's unwavering position not definitely to close the Israeli office and this is based on the ground of Qatar's belief that closing the office is the essence of the Arab- israeli conflict.

The sources added that Qatar cannot give more concession.

However, observers talked to the paper said that the formula of the statements wins the Saudi half consent and that Saudi Arabia which wants to totally close the Israeli office in Qatar might take part in the Islamic summit in Doha without the participation of the crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
