Iraq-Morocco, Economics, 11/10/2000
Iraq and Morocco have stricken trade deals worth $60 million. The announcement was made Thursday by Moroccan Minister of industry, trade, energy and mining, Mustapha Mansouri, upon return from Iraq where he delivered President Saddam Hussein a message from King Mohammed VI, dealing with bilateral relations.
Mansouri told reporters upon return from Baghdad that President Saddam Hussein voiced esteem and friendship for Morocco and for King Mohammed VI.
He said he conferred with several Iraqi officials, including his peer and the minister of agriculture and health. He added that the level of economic and commercial relations between the two countries was not up to their political ties and that the two sides convened to devote the works of the coming session of their joint commission to the enhancing of economic and trade cooperation.
Mansouri had arrived in Baghdad Tuesday leading a large delegation of businessmen on a Moroccan aircraft loaded with humanitarian aid. He opened the Moroccan Day at the 32nd Baghdad international fair where Moroccan goods are on display in a 366 M2 aisle.
