No radioactive pollution in Gibraltar Strait waters
Morocco-UK, Local, 11/10/2000
The Moroccan environment department said there was no radioactive pollution in the Gibraltar Strait waters because of the recent forced stay of the British HSM Tireless nuclear submarine in Gibraltar.
Experts of the National Center of Energy, Sciences and Nuclear Techniques (CNESTEN) collected samples of water, sand and algae in the area and minute lab checks proved negative, said a release of the department of city-planning, urbanism, housing and environment.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said no nuclear hazard has been reported in the breakdown and repairs being performed on the British submarine.
