Egypt denounces Israeli aggression on Palestinians
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 11/9/2000
Egypt has strongly denounced incessant Israeli attacks on the unarmed Palestinian people, expressing hope that the Palestinian people with all peace-loving nations would be able to celebrate in Bethlehem and other Palestinian towns the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on its soil soon.
In a statement delivered Tuesday night before the UN General Assembly, Egypt's Permanent Delegate Ahmed Abul Gheit referred to the prevailing atmosphere in Palestinian villages and towns, which have been attacked by Israeli forces since more than five weeks.
Egypt will maintain its intensive efforts in support of the Palestinian legitimate right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Abul Gheit said that the continued Israeli killing and wounding of hundreds of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza shows that the Palestinians are still suffering under an occupation that wants to crush their aspirations with military force.
He was addressing a UN special political committee to examine the Israeli practices in occupied Palestinian lands Tuesday night.
"The use of deadly force against Palestinians falls under the grave violations of human rights," he said.
