Moroccan house of representatives holds special session on Palestine
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 11/9/2000

The Moroccan house of representatives (lower chamber) on Wednesday held a special session "to voice solidarity with the Palestinian people, prey to ruthless Israeli crackdown. The session, held upon the request of several parliamentary groups, is an expression of the Moroccan people's denunciation of the torture and atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people in violation of all United Nations resolutions and conventions," MAP reported.

Speaker of the house, Abdelouahed Radi, stressed the special attention the Moroccan people grant to the Palestinian case and underlined that Morocco will spare no effort to extend assistance to Palestinians.

Radi said the Moroccan MPs back the call made by Amnesty International to put on trial those responsible for the atrocities as war criminals.

Several MPs, who took the floor during the special session, called on the world parliaments and international and regional parliamentary organizations to work for putting an end to the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people and to back the Palestinians' legitimate struggle for the establishment of an independent state, with al-Quds Asharif as capital.

They also stressed the need for "more courageous actions to stop the Zionist machine aiming at distorting the Palestinian identity and obliterating the Arab-Muslim civilization."

The Intifada, or uprising, of the stone-throwing children is a lesson for the Zionist enemy. These children unmasked the true face of the Zionist state, which persists in opposing a just peace, guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian people to a life in dignity, the MPs said.

The MPs renewed readiness to continue defending the Palestinian cause and called for the implementation of relevant international legality resolutions.
