Royal message on Middle-East handed to Tony Blair

British Prime Minister Tony Blair Wednesday got a message from King Mohammed VI dealing with developments in the Middle-East.

The message was conveyed by foreign affairs and cooperation secretary of state Taieb Fassi Fihri, a release of the Moroccan embassy in London said.

The message underscored how serious the situation in the region is and the urgent need for international action to ease tension and stop the killing of civilian Palestinians, the release said.

Fihri also conferred with British peer Peter Hain on consolidation of cooperation ties and developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue in light of the latest Security Council resolution and efforts by the kingdom to definitely settle the issue in keeping with international legality.

The Moroccan official also raised security and environment issues pursuant to the forced berthing of a British nuclear submarine at Gibraltar.
