Turabi criticizes Eritrea's role in Sudan
Sudan-Eritrea, Politics, 11/7/2000
The People Congress party led by Hassan al-Turabi has protested to Eritrea's ambassador in Sudan over the ignorance of the delegation of Eritrea which visited Khartoum by the end of last week to meet with the leadership of this party in the course of Asmara project for maintaining a settlement in Sudan.
The deputy secretary general of the people's conference Ali al-Haj Muhammad said in a statement to the Sudanese al-Rai al-Am on Monday that the Eritrean ambassador stressed he will convey this protest to his country's government.
On the other hand, the leader of the Party Hassan al-Turabi strongly criticized the role played by Eritrea in settling the crisis in Sudan as well as the approval of the Sudanese government to such a role.
In a seminar held on Sunday evening in Um Durman, al-Turabi said that the government has neglected the debated initiatives, especially the Libyan- Egyptian initiative. He warned against the partition of Sudan because of what he had described as monopolizing the wealth and authority by the Northern people in Sudan rather than distributing them on other part of the country evenly.
