Parliament committee probes fishery talks with EU
Morocco-European Union, Economics, 11/3/2000

The productive sectors committee of the House of Representatives held a work-session to probe results of early rounds of talks between the kingdom and the European Union on fisheries.

Committee chairman Hassan Abbadi told TVM television channel the fishery minister Said Chbaatou assured MPS talks were taking place "within a framework that guarantees Moroccan interests in all sectors."

The minister underscored the necessity to control fishing activities in Moroccan waters, boost investments and process products domestically for better management and marketing. He also assured the committee the fishery file will be dealt with in coordination and dialog with professionals nationwide.
